the Gathering

Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when it shall no longer be said, As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt, but As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them (Jeremiah 16:14).

True to his prophetic word, God has steadily been gathering the Jewish people since Israel became a sovereign nation in 1948. Recently, though, he’s quickened the pace.

According to Israel Now News the country is preparing for an influx of 90 thousand immigrants by the end of 2021. This is double the normal yearly number. Nefesh B’Nefesh, an organization that assists North Americans in moving to Israel, reportedly received more than 900 applications for aid during the first half of June. In June of last year (2019), the total for the entire month was just under 400. A similar organization in France reports a near triple increase in the number of citizens expressing interest in immigrating to Israel. Under Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Cabinet recently approved a $46 million plan to financially prepare for a large increase in the number of immigrants.

For I will bring them back to their own land that I gave to their fathers. Behold, I am sending for many fishers, declares the Lord, and they shall catch them. And afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks (Jeremiah 16:15-16).

While antisemitism, political upheaval, and economic uncertainties have prompted the modern Jewish exodus from countries like Ukraine, France, and Belgium in the past, many cite the COVID19 pandemic as the cause for the recent spike in resettlement interests. Travel restrictions and quarantine orders have likely played a role in this migration but reports from last December (2019) indicated that Israel was expecting a 20% surge of immigrants over the year prior.

One thing is certain. With the cascade of end times signs the Lord has been sending lately, it’s no surprise for us watchmen to find the Jewish nation of Israel being built up in number, just as prophesied in the Bible.
