J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., recently announced that it plans to reduce its carbon emission intensity 32% by 2034. J.B. Hunt is an Arkansas-based trucking and logistics company.

According to a company news release, J.B. Hunt plans to achieve this new goal by incorporating alternative powered equipment to its fleet of trucks, expanding the use of biogenic fuels, and by improving fuel economy.

"Our roadmap to achieving this aspirational goal will help J.B. Hunt strive to significantly reduce our carbon emission intensity while holding true to our customer commitment of providing efficient, quality-driven, competitive supply chain solutions for moving their freight," said Craig Harper, chief sustainability officer and executive vice president at J.B. Hunt.

"Our goal is an ambitious challenge to improve J.B. Hunt's carbon footprint and to help advance the transportation industry's progress in developing sustainable solutions that are commercially viable and scalable for widespread adoption."

J.B. Hunt is among the 15 largest trucking companies in North America. It boasts of having more than 21,000 trailers in its private fleet. A recent Gartner report lists Agility Logistics, CH Robinson, and FedEx as J.B. Hunt's primary competitors.
