Genetic Manipulation to Become Common in Plastic Surgery, Professor Warns
December 8, 2021
During a summit on the future of cosmetic surgery, a professor and plastic surgery specialist called Eyal Winkler warned that genetic manipulation would eventually become a reality in plastic surgery technology.
In an interview published in the Jerusalem Post, Winkler didn't elaborate on the type of genetic manipulation to expect. He did admit that it is an ethical issue.
Winkler also believes that today's young generation will live longer lives, which will create significant demand for anti-aging treatments and procedures. He goes as far as saying that "in another ten to twenty years, we will need to deal with the stopping of the aging process."
Plastic surgeons may be known for performing elective enhancement surgeries on the rich and famous. But they also "save lives and perform many types of reconstructive surgeries." Winkler mentioned travelling to third world countries and operating on children with cleft lips as an example.
