50 Game-Changing Technologies Transforming the Future

April 15, 2021

(WP) Research firm Frost & Sullivan recently announced an upcoming webinar posed to "offer strategic guidance and actionable ideas on the hottest technologies with maximum potential to fuel global innovation and drive commercial success."

According to a press release TechVision's annual Top 50 Emerging Technologies research is an extraordinary and comprehensive analysis of the most disruptive technologies that will impact multiple industries, applications, and regions. These technologies are distributed across nine key clusters and represent the bulk of R&D and innovation activity today. Each cluster consists of a unique group of game-changing technologies that are attracting huge investments, powering cutting-edge developments, and driving the creation of new products and services through convergence.

Key words above being disruptive and investments. These so called emerging technologies are certain to disrupt not only the industries in which they exist, but also the lives of those for whom they are developed. As COVID-19 has shown us, disruption is not always a good thing. As for investments, well, follow the money and you'll find the primary beneficiaries of emerging technologies. It's not always the general public.

In a diagram that looks a lot like something that would come from the World Economic Forum (i.e. sustainable development goals), TechVision reveals the categories and industries from which these 50 game-changing technologies will spring.

Based on the diagram, technology will continue to infiltrate all aspects of society as we move into the future. Artificial intelligence, biometrics, robotics, and 5G are on the map to enable things like contactless health monitoring, tools for energy efficiency, automated manufacturing, and more.

As with any development meant to make life easier, time will tell if the tradeoffs required render any of these technological advances worth the results they claim to offer. But more importantly, technology is not slowing down. That ultimately puts humankind at risk.

To learn more, join Frost & Sullivan's Richard Sear, Partner, Senior Vice President and Chief Solutions Architect, for the Growth Opportunity briefing, "The 2021 Top 50 Technologies Transforming the Future," on April 27at 11 a.m EDT or April 29 at 11:00 a.m. JST.
