End Times News & Commentary
End Times Prophecies
Nearly one-third of all scriptures contained in The Holy Bible are prophetic in nature. Some of these prophecies have already occurred, thus proving the validity of the texts. Other prophecies are happening now. Many have been in the works for decades.
God has given us the end times prophecies so that a). when they occur as foretold we will know that He is God, b). we believers will know when our redemption draws near, and c). mankind will be inspired to conform to Godly living.
Many Bible scholars point to the creation of the nation of Israel in 1948 as one of the most significant end times prophecies in our modern times. Why? Because God foretold of the event thousands of years ago.
For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land (Ezekiel 36:24)…I will resettle your towns, and the ruins will be rebuilt. The desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass through it. They will say, “this land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Eden; the cities that were lying in ruins, desolate and destroyed, are now fortified and inhabited (Ezekiel 36:33-35).
Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment? For as soon as Zion was in labor she brought forth her children (Isaiah 66: 7-8).
Bible scholars often refer to Israel as God's prophetic clock. There are a couple of reasons for this, but among the most important is the fact that the end of days cannot occur until God's chosen people (Jews) have returned to their promised land (Israel) as a sovereign nation.
When the apostles asked him how they would know when the end of days were upon them, Jesus gave them a list of things to watch for. Many of these are found below.
This video was recently published on the Generation2434 YouTube Channel. The presenter walks us through current events and matches them with end times prophecies straight from the Bible. This is an excellent resource! Please watch! (Not a Watch Post production).
The Birth Pains
-
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains (Matthew 24: 7-8).
-
While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape (1 Thessalonians 5:3).
Wars & Rumors of Wars
-
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet (Matthew 24:6).
Scoffers & Mockers
-
Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” (2 Peter 3:4).
Signs in the Heavens
-
And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars (Luke 21:25).
-
And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth (Revelation 12:1-2). Some say this occurred on September 23, 2017. Click here for an explanation.
-
For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light (Isaiah 13:10).
-
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord (Joel 2:31).
Great Storms
-
And there will be signs…..and on earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves (Luke 21:5).
Lawlessness
-
And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold (Matthew 24:12).
-
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people (2 Timothy 3:1-9).
Persecution of Christians
-
Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake (Matthew 24:9).
-
Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years (Revelation 20:4).
Apostasy of the Church
-
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth (1 Timothy 4:1-3).
-
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions (2 Timothy 4:3).
Increase in Knowledge
-
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased (Daniel 12:4).
False Prophets
-
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Matthew 7:15).
-
For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect (Matthew 24:24).
-
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction (2 Peter 2:1).
Strong Delusion
-
Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:8-12).
-
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God (2 Corinthians 4:4).
There are many, many more prophesies in the Bible about the end times, about what will come, what will go, and who has already won the ongoing war between good and evil. There will be a Great Tribulation, an Armageddon, and a Millennium during which Jesus Christ will reign. The prophecies mentioned on this page are only the beginning. They serve as a stark warning as to where we are in God's great scheme of things - at the "beginning of sorrows."
The Watch Post encourages you to study all the end times prophecies, including those not listed here. Be ready, be watchful, and be encouraged because Jesus is not about to abandon his flock during these dark days. Believe in him. Put your worries and fears to rest. Be still and know that He is God.
